GAME NOTES

DODGER NOTES:

The Dodgers fell for the first time in 2013 as they were shut out 3-0 by the Giants. Tomorrow’s 7:10 pm series rubber match between the clubs is sold out.

Hyun-Jin Ryu suffered the loss in his MLB debut, allowing three runs (one earned) on 10 hits with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Ryu, who became the fourth South Korea native to play for the Dodgers, left with a 1-0 deficit, but both runners came around to score after Ronald Belisario entered the game.

Andre Ethier roped the Dodgers’ first hit of the night with second-inning double to right field. It was Ethier’s first double of the season and last year, he became the first Dodger in franchise history to post 30 or more doubles in six consecutive seasons. Ethier entered tonight’s game just 1-for-13 against Giants starter Madison Bumgarner.

Adrian Gonzalez went hitless (0-for-3), snapping his 16-game hitting streak, which dated to Sept. 19, 2012.

GIANTS NOTES:

For the second consecutive time against the Dodgers, Madison Bumgarner fired 8.0 scoreless innings, this time, limiting Los Angeles to just two hits and striking out six. In six starts against the Dodgers since May 19, 2011, the left-hander is 5-1 with a 1.94 ERA (9 ER/41.2 IP). Bumgarner tossed 8.0 scoreless innings against the Dodgers. Bumgarner also contributed with an RBI grounder that ended up scoring two on Justin Sellers’ second error of the inning on an errant throw to the plate.

Joaquin Arias went 2-for-4 with a run scored and knocked in San Francisco’s first run of the night with an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning. Arias made himself at home at Dodger Stadium last season, batting .360 (9-for-25) with three doubles, two homers and seven RBI in eight games.

Sergio Romo set down the Dodgers in order in the ninth, successfully converting his 10th consecutive save opportunity. Since Aug. 23, 2012, Romo is 1-0 with 10 saves and a 0.98 ERA (2 ER/17.1 IP) in 21 relief appearances.
