The Dodgers recovered from their Friday night loss to the Padres and took the remaining games handily, whipping the Padres 14-0 Sunday in the final home game of the 2018 season.

There were several firsts and lasts at the Sunday home-closer. Chase Utley had his final at-bat of the regular season in a Dodger home jersey, getting an emphatic round of applause with each at-bat.

Pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu continued to hack and make contact, tying a career-high record with three hits during Sunday’s match-up and putting up a .292 batting average. Ryu has shown he’s got what it takes to handle the high-leverage situations.

Matt Kemp got his 1000th career RBI on Sunday – on his birthday no less.

The Dodgers remain a game and a half in first, slipping down from two and a half Friday with the series opener loss to San Diego. Colorado swept the now-eliminated Diamondbacks, who went out with a whimper after what looked to be a 3-way race to the final few games just a few weeks ago.

L.A. heads to Phoenix tonight for the first of three games against Arizona. The regular season ends in San Francisco this coming weekend.

Tonight’s game starts at 6:40 pm, PST.
