Dodgers interested in Cuban prospect, Yoan Lopez

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of many teams that are interested in Yoan Lopez. Lopez is from Cuba and has been recently cleared by the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control to sign with a MLB team. This is usually the last step before a player can sign with a major league team. If Lopez is added to the Dodgers, he would join fellow Cuban players Yasiel Puig, Alex Guerrero, Yasmani Grandal and Erisbel Arruebarruena.

Lopez defected from Cuba and established residency in Haiti. Any team that signs Yoan Lopez to a contract will be subject to international spending limitations. This is in part of Lopez’s age (21 years old) and he has less than three professional seasons under his belt.

Yoan Lopez is listed as 6’4″ and 190lbs. His fastball has ranged from 93mph to the reported 100 mph when showcasing for clubs.  He is reportedly being pursued by multiple major league teams.
