The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially signed free agent pitcher Brandon McCarthy, to a four year contract that will pay the right handed pitcher $48 million over the duration of the contract. McCarthy is a native of Glendale and should fit in well with the Los Angeles Dodgers. McCarthy was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round in the 2002 Amateur Draft. Last year, McCarthy played for the Arizona Diamondbacks where he posted a 5.01 ERA and was traded in July to the New York Yankees, where he posted an ERA of 2.89. He also pitched a career high of 200 innings last year.

Brandon McCarthy posted an image on his twitter displaying his new “LA” colors by using MS Paint. Our friends at the Left Field Pavilion Blog (http://www.thelfp.com/blog/) posted a better picture (which was used as our featured image for this post) by using photoshop.

Relief pitcher Brian Wilson was designated for assignment today to make room for McCarthy on the 40 man roster.
