Hanley Ramirez close to agreement with the Boston Red Sox

Update: #RedSox have agreed to terms with Hanley Ramirez to four-year, $88MM contract with a $22MM vesting option for a fifth season.

Hanley Ramirez is said to be close to an agreement with the Boston Red Sox. The deal according to Ken Rosenthal tweet, is for 5 years, 90 million. Hanley Ramirez is also reportedly on his way to Boston tomorrow to finalize the deal.

Ramirez was signed as an amateur free agent by the Boston Red Sox in 2000. He was then traded to the Florida Marlins (now Miami Marlins) in 2005, where he played for the Marlins until the 2012 season. He wasthen traded to the Dodgers. When Hanley Ramirez first arrived with the Dodgers, he was an offensive force to be reckoned with. However, in the 2013 campaign he struggled to stay on the field. He started the year off with an injury that was sustained in the World Baseball Classic and required surgery.

If the Boston Red Sox finalize this deal, the Dodgers will receive a compensation sandwich draft pick from the Red Sox.

  1. Hanley was/is a spark in the clubhouse. His asset is a lot more than just on the field play. His play is still top notch. He will be missed.

  2. Ba bye Hanley Muerto De Hambre Ramirez! Go rip the Boston Red Sox off. I can’t work and I used to give 150% to my job, I hurt my back at work and can’t take my family to more then 1 game a year. You want 90 million for 5 years. Owners it’s your fault! sure pay them a good salary. But the astranaical salaries you pay these guys makes it almost impossible for me to take my family of four to games. Before screwing up my back we used to sit behind the Dodger dugout. Now reserved 1 game a year from 25 FEILDS level. Now have to watch on time warner cable. I missed 3 games on tv my family is happier watching them live. I would work in trade of tickets. Also ball players should play for the love of the game and some monetary compensation. We would have season tickets 7 years ago had I not hurt pack. I would feel like a man too thanks for making things to where I can’t take my family of four to one game a year. 1rockstar62@gmail.com
